Country Roads Ahead for Bobcat Tennis

The Bobcats hit the road to face Marshall and App State

SAN MARCOS, TEXAS – Texas State women's tennis is back on the road this week as it prepares for two conference matches. On Thursday, the Bobcats (9-3, 3-1 Sun Belt) will travel to West Virginia to take on Marshall at 10 am CST and then head to North Carolina where on Saturday they will face App State at 9 am CST. 
 
The Bobcats' 3-1 record in Sun Belt play is their best start since joining the conference in 2013. 
 
Texas State is coming off a notable victory over James Madison on Sunday. In a marathon match played indoors, the Bobcats were able to capture their first victory in program history over the Dukes, 4-2. 
 
Andrea Pineda secured the match point for the Bobcats against JMU on court five and secured her ninth singles victory of the year. Pineda and Callie Creath both lead the Bobcats in singles victories with nine total. 
 
Creath was the lone Bobcat to win both of her singles matches last week and sits 3-0 on court two in Sun Belt play. 
 
Marshall 
Marshall (13-6, 4-1 Sun Belt) is tied for second in the Sun Belt standings heading into Thursday's matchup. 
 
The Thundering Herd is led by sophomore Johanna Strom, who on court one has a 10-6 record overall and is 4-1 in conference. As a freshman in 2023, Strom was named the SBC Freshman of the Year and named first team all-conference for both singles and doubles. 
 
This will be the second all-time matchup between Marshall and Texas State. The Thundering Herd won last year's matchup 5-2.

App State 
App State (10-5, 4-1 Sun Belt) is tied with Marshall for second in the Sun Belt and has a 6-0 record in home matches this season.
 
The Mountaineers are led by sophomore Savannah Dada-Mascoll. Dada-Mascoll holds a 10-1 record in singles on court one and is 3-0 in SBC play.
 
This is the sixth all-time matchup between Texas State and App State. The Mountaineers lead the series 4-2 and won last year's matchup 5-2.
