SAN MARCOS, Texas – Texas State pitcher
Jessica Mullins was named Sun Belt Pitcher of the Week for the fourth time this season after tossing three complete games this week with a 1.0 ERA and two shutouts.
The senior pitcher earned this honor for the 10th time in her career, the fourth of this season. She had three consecutive awards in weeks three, four and five of this season before this one.
As the Sun Belt Conference Preseason Pitcher of the Year, Mullins is one of just four pitchers in the conference to have been awarded the weekly award this season.
Mullins tossed three complete games this week, allowing just three runs in 21 innings of work. She struck out 16 of the batters she faced while allowing just 12 hits over the three games. Mullins allowed just one extra base hits while walking four batters in three complete games. She won all three of her outings including one versus #14 Texas A&M.
She had two complete game shutouts in the Bobcats series and sweep over App State, the 18
th and 19th shutouts of her career. Mullins held batters to just a .167 average this weekend as she led the Bobcats to three wins, the 81
st, 82
nd and 83
rd of her career.
Mullins and the rest of the Bobcats will return to action tonight against Sam Houston at 5 pm. There will be no stream for this game. The team will then head to South Alabama for three games between Thursday, March 28 and Saturday, March 30 against the Jaguars. All three games of the weekend will be on ESPN+.
