Box Score NORFOLK, VIRGINIA – The Texas State tennis team lost its first match in over a month on Saturday when it fell to nationally-ranked No. 68 Old Dominion 6-1.
Callie Creath was the lone Bobcat to score a point in the match when she won her singles match on court No. 2 in three sets 6-4, 4-6, (10-7). Creath defeated Old Dominion's Allison Isaacs who was 1-1 in conference coming into the match.
Doubles
On court No. 2,
Jadeh Chan and
Mae McCutcheon fell 6-1 versus Alexandra Viktorovich and Ulyana Romanova to begin doubles play. It marked Chan and McCutcheon's first loss as a pair on court two.
ODU secured the doubles point with its win on court one.
Sofia Fortuno and
Maria Lora suffered just their second loss in doubles play on the year, when they dropped the lone set 6-1.
The match on court three that featured
Emma Carr and
Emily Niers went unfinished. The match was stopped while Carr and Niers were down 4-2 in the set.
Singles
ODU got out to a quick start in singles and won the first match on court No.1.
Kiana Graham was matched against ODU's Sofia Johnson, who had a 7-1 record coming into the match. Graham was defeated in straight sets 6-1, 6-1 and suffered her first loss in conference play.
Andrea Pineda, playing on court five, lost her singles match in straight sets 6-2, 6-1. This loss ended Pineda's eight-match winning streak and moved her overall record to 8-2 on the year.
The Monarchs secured the match victory on court three when Niers was defeated 6-3, 6-1 by ODU's Viktorovich.
Fortuno, playing on court No. 4, and
Maria Lora, on court No. 6, both dropped their singles matches. Fortuno dropped her match 6-4, 6-3, and Lora lost her match 6-4, 6-1.
Creath's match that earned the Bobcats their lone point against the Monarchs was the last match to finish.
