Saturday's Tennis Match Moved to Austin

The match versus Coastal Carolina has been moved to the Weller Tennis Center

SAN MARCOS, TEXAS – Texas State women's tennis returns to action this weekend with two conference matches. Saturday's match versus Coastal Carolina will be played indoors at the Weller Tennis Center in Austin, Texas at 4:30 pm due to weather. Sunday's match against Georgia Southern is set for a 10 am start time at the Bobcat Tennis Complex.Ā 

The Bobcats head into weekend on a seven-game winning streak, which is their most wins in a row since 2012. The Bobcats also can tie the 2012 record of nine wins in a row after this weekend.Ā Ā 

Andrea Pineda won her seventh match in a row last Saturday and moved her overall record to 7-1. Pineda has won her last three matches on court five in straight-set victories.Ā 

Sofia Fortuno and Maria Lora head into the weekend carrying a 6-1 record in doubles on court two. They have won their last two matches, 6-2 and 6-3.Ā Ā 

Both Fortuno and Lora have also seen success in singles this season. Lora has a 5-1 record on court No. 6 and Fortuno has a 6-3 record on courts No. 3 and No. 4.Ā Ā 

COASTAL CAROLINAĀ Ā 
Coastal Carolina comes into San Marcos with a four-match winning streak and a 6-4 overall record. The Chanticleers won last week's conference match against Georgia State 5-2.Ā Ā 

Coastal Carolina is led by Anna Babayan, who is 5-4 in singles on courts one and two this year. Babayan and her partner Jesse Hollins are 8-1 in doubles on court one.Ā 

This will be the fourth matchup between Texas State and Coastal Carolina. The Chanticleers have a 3-0 record against Texas state and won last year's matchup 6-1.Ā Ā 

GEORGIA SOUTHERNĀ Ā 
Georgia Southern has a 11-2 record on the year and face Louisiana on Friday before its matchup with Texas State. The Eagles lost their conference opener to Troy 4-3.Ā 

On court two Ninon Martinache is 11-1 in singles matches for the Eagles. Martinache and her doubles partner Sonja Keranen hold an 8-2 record on the season in doubles play.Ā Ā 

This is the fourth time the Bobcats have faced the Eagles and Georgia Southern holds a 3-0 series lead. Georgia Southern won the match last year 7-0.Ā
