SAN MARCOS, Texas – Saturday night will see No. 3 seeded Texas State (12-4-5) battle No. 1 seed James Madison (11-3-5) for the Sun Belt Conference Championship title from the Foley Sports Complex. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.

The Bobcats set a program record for goals in a conference tournament match in its 4-0 win over Coastal Carolina on Wednesday. The victory sent the team to its first conference championship contest since 2018 and ninth overall. Finding the back of the net in the contest were

Mady Soumare leads Texas State with nine goals and six assists. Her assist mark moved her into a tie for eighth on the program's season list. Ulloa enters second on the team with 16 points, having recorded six goals and four assists. Meza had tallied five goals and both
Sydney Bassa and Smith have scored four times each. The duo of
Chloe Jones and Smith have been credited with five assists apiece.

Katelyn Chrisman has started the last five matches and extended her personal shutout streak 474:19 minutes. The senior sports a 0.88 GAA with 23 saves and a .742 save percentage. Also seeing time in goal has been
Caitlyn Draper. She has a 1.03 GAA while making 56 saves and having a .824 save percentage in 13 matches.

The Dukes enter Saturday on a 13-match unbeaten streak with their last loss coming on the road to West Virginia on Sept. 5. JMU won the Sun Belt's regular season title but had to go to penalty kicks in its quarterfinals match against ULM. The semifinal contest against Old Dominion was postponed a day and moved to the campus of South Alabama due to hazardous field conditions in Foley due to rain, where the Dukes claimed a 1-0 win over their in-state rivals.
Ginny Lackey, the Sun Belt's Player and Freshman of the Year, leads the team with 12 goals, 31 points, 60 shots, 33 shots on goal and six match-winning goals. Her seven assists are the second most on the squad. Amanda Attanasi has added nine goals and three assists while Sophia Verrecchia comes in with five goals. Lexi Vanderlinden has been credited with a team leading 10 assists and has added two goals. The trio of Shea Collins, Ariana Reyes and Jordan Yang have five assists apiece.
Sophia DeCerb has started all 19 matches and played all but 58:59 minutes in goal. She sports a 1.24 GAA with 51 saves and a .689 save percentage. Lili White has appeared in two contests off the bench, playing 13:59 minutes against Southern Miss and the entire second half at South Alabama.
Series History
James Madison leads the all-time series 2-0-1. The teams last faced off on Oct. 13, 2023 in Harrisonburg, which ended in a scoreless draw.
In 2022, the teams met twice with the Dukes claimed both contests. The first was in San Marcos that ended 3-1 with Texas State's lone goal coming from
Madi Goss on a penalty kick. In that year's quarterfinals of the Sun Belt Championship, JMU eked out a 1-0 victory.
