SAN MARCOS, Texas – Monday will see Texas State (10-4-5, 6-1-3 Sun Belt) kick off the Sun Belt Championship against App State (7-6-5, 4-3-3 Sun Belt) at 11 a.m. from the Foley Sports Complex in Foley, Alabama. The Bobcats enter the tournament as the No. 3 seed for the third time as a league member in team history.

The Bobcats enter the tournament on a three-match undefeated streak with back-to-back victories to conclude the regular season against Georgia Southern and the Mountaineers. Overall, TXST finished second in the conference standings for the program's best finish since 2018.
Mady Soumare leads the team with eight goals and has added four assists. She is coming off a two-goal performance against the Eagles to earn Sun Belt Offensive Player of the Week honors and was named to the all-conference first team. Netting four goals apiece has been
Sydney Bassa,
Victoria Meza and
Mya Ulloa.
Sharing the team lead in assists with five is
Chloe Jones and
Kaylie Smith, who has netted three goals and was chosen as the Sun Belt's Newcomer of the Year. Also picking up all-conference accolades among Texas State field players is
Kennley Bradley, who helped the team record seven shutouts and has played a team-high 1,616 minutes at center back.
Between the posts,
Katelyn Chrisman has started the last three matches and recorded a shutout in each of them. The senior sports a 1.08 GAA with 20 saves and a .714 save percentage in nine matches. She is coming off her second straight Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Week accolade and was chosen to the all-conference second team.
Also seeing time in goals has been
Caitlyn Draper. She has a 1.04 GAA while making 56 saves and having a .824 save percentage in 12 matches.
About App State
App State concluded the regular season on a two-match losing streak with defeats at home to Old Dominion and the Bobcats. The Mountaineers are 4-3-3 away from Boone this season that includes a neutral site draw versus Georgia State that was played in Charlotte. In Sun Belt action, they have gone 3-1-2 away from home with the lone setback being to regular season champion James Madison.
Izzi Wood, an All-Sun Belt First Team pick, leads the team with 11 goals, 23 points, 78 shots and 40 shots on goal. Three of her goals have been match-winners. Netting four goals and recording five assists has been all-conference second team selection Ellie Garrison. Credited with a team-high six assists is Stephanie Barbosa.
Sarah Wommack has started all 18 matches and played every minute in goal. The redshirt freshman has posted a 1.50 GAA with 61 saves and a .692 save percentage.
Series History
Texas State leads the all-time series 7-2-1 after winning the regular season meeting 1-0 on the road on Oct. 27. The lone goal that afternoon came courtesy of Smith when she knocked in a rebound off a shot by Soumare. The past three wins for the Bobcats in the series have all been by 1-0 scores while six of the seven TXST victories have seen it record a shutout.
Monday will be the second time the teams have met in the Sun Belt Tournament. The only previous time was in the first round in 2021. App State won 2-1 with the match-winner coming in the 53rd minute.
