HIGHLANDS RANCH, Colorado. – Yvonne Chamness played a blemish-free final round carding a 3-under 69 to earn runner-up honors and lead the Texas State women's golf team to tie for sixth at the Ron Moore Intercollegiate.
Chamness (68-69-69—206) went 10-under for the tournament to place second, tying her best career finish (Texas Invitational 2/6/23) as a Bobcat. The junior recorded 11 birdies and an eagle, while only bogeying three holes over the 54-hole tournament.
"Yvonne did great and shooting -10 on this course was very impressive," said head coach
Par Nilsson. "I saw every shot of the bogey free 69 today. It was top level play and could have been even lower."
As a team, TXST finished tied for sixth (283-302-285—870) at 6-over, after climbing four spots on the team leaderboard in the final round. The finish was the best for the Bobcats in 2024-25. UNLV won the 15-team tournament, while Kansas State and Colorado finished in order.
"It was a great experience for the team to play this tournament that we have not been to before," Nilsson said. "Playing in altitude is different and a learning experience. We had two good rounds as a team and today the team showed grit after a rough day yesterday."
Ella Salama (68-78-72—218) went even-par 72 on the final day to close out action tied for 26th, while
Fia Lindblom (75-75-71—221) shot 1-under to finish tied for 41st. Rounding out scoring for Texas State in round three was
Mattingly Palmer (73-80-73—226), who finished tied for 59th.
Carla Bourdeaux finished the event 78th.
The Bobcats are back in action Oct. 20-21 when they host the Jim West Challenge at The Kissing Tree Golf Club in San Marcos.
