HIGHLANDS RANCH, Colorado – A pair of Texas State golfers sit in the top three, while the Bobcats are fourth after round one of the Ron Moore Intercollegiate hosted at the University of Denver Golf Course in Highlands Ranch, Colorado.
Yvonne Chamness and
Ella Salama each carded 4-under 68 on the first 18 to lead TXST at the 54-hole tournament. Chamness opened the tournament even on the front nine before closing out the day with four birdies, including registering consecutive on Nos. 10 and 11 and Nos. 17 and 18. Salama also played a blemish-free back nine, securing five of her six total birdies.
As a team, TXST finished the day 5-under, three shots back from leaders Denver and Minnesota. Colorado State sits at -6 in third.
Mattingly Palmer also contributed to the Bobcats' team total, shooting 1-over 73 good to tie her for 37th.
Carla Bourdeaux finished a stroke back from Palmer tied for 49th and
Fia Lindblom rounded out the group at +3 and tied for 55th.
