SAN MARCOS, Texas – The last road match of the regular season sees Texas State (8-4-5, 4-1-3 Sun Belt) make the trek to the mountains of Western North Carolina to take on App State (7-4-5, 4-1-3 Sun Belt) on Sunday. Kickoff is scheduled for 11 a.m. CT from the Appalachian Soccer Stadium.

About Texas State
Thursday saw the Bobcats play to a scoreless draw against South Alabama. It was the first time the team had recorded a positive result against the Jaguars in a home match. With the draw, Texas State maintained the top spot in the West Division but now needs help to win it and clinch the No. 2 seed in the conference tournament. Eyes will be on South Alabama and ULM on Sunday as a Warhawks win followed by a draw or loss to Southern Miss on Halloween would clinch the division for the Bobcats.
 
Mady Soumare continues to pace the squad with six goals, three of which have been match-winners. Netting four goals apiece has been Sydney Bassa, Victoria Meza and Mya Ulloa. Three of Bassa's tallies have come from the penalty spot and Ulloa has converted two penalty kicks on the year. The five combine-made penalty kicks have already set a new team season record.
 
Coming in with a team-high four assists is Kaylie Smith. The foursome of Chloe Jones, Zoe Junior, Mady Soumare and Ulloa have been credited with three assists apiece.
 
Between the posts, Caitlyn Draper has a .824 save percentage that ranks second in the conference. The sophomore also sports a 1.04 GAA with 56 saves. Also seeing action in goal is Katelyn Chrisman, who has made 13 saves in seven contests and 487 minutes of action.
 
About App State
The Mountaineers are on a two-match winning streak with wins against Arkansas State and Troy. The lone Sun Belt setback was to James Madison while they have recorded draws versus Coastal Carolina, Georgia State and Marshall. App State is 3-1-2 at home with a 1-0-1 mark in league action.
 
Coming in tied for the Sun Belt lead with 11 goals is Izzi Wood. She also paces the squad with 23 points, 73 shots and 38 shots on goal. Netting four goals has been Ellie Garrison while also sharing the team lead of five assists with Stephanie Barbosa. Both Olivia Simon and Shannon Studer have added two goals apiece.
 
Sarah Wommack has played all 1,440 minutes in goal. The redshirt freshman sports a 1.44 GAA with 51 saves and a .689 save percentage.
 
Series History
Texas State leads the all-time series 6-2-1. Last time the teams met was on Oct. 27, 2022. That day saw the Bobcats win 1-0 on Senior Day in San Marcos on a 77th minute goal courtesy of Kiara Gonzales.
 
When facing the Mountaineers on the road, TXST is 2-1-1 all-time and are undefeated in the last three matchups. The last contest in Boone was a 1-0 victory on Oct.10, 2021. Ulloa netted the lone goal when she put back a rebound off her own saved penalty kick.
