SAN MARCOS, Texas – Freshman
Allie Justiz carded her low round of the season on the first 18 to lead the Texas State women's golf team after two rounds at the Jim West Challenge. The two-day event is being hosted by the Bobcats at Kissing Tree Golf Club in San Marcos.
Justiz fired a 3-under 69 in the opening round, which included seven birdies and her first career eagle, to sit -3 after 36 holes and in a tie for 12th place. The Edmond, Oklahoma, native finished the day with 11 birdies on her home course, four more than she has shot over five total rounds this season.
Fia Lindblom had a consistent day through two rounds, going even par over both to tie for 23rd.
Making the largest jump on the leaderboard for the Bobcats between rounds was
Yvonne Chamness, who saw an eight-stroke improvement on her final scorecard total. Chamness went 3-under 69 on the second 18, giving her a fourth round in the 60s this season, a team-best. Joining her in a tie for 30th at 2-over is
Mattingly Palmer. The senior's 2-under opening round was a season low.
Rounding out the scoring for TXST was
Ella Salama at +8, while individuals
Carla Bourdeaux and
Hallie Adare sit at +14 and +24, respectively.
Houston and TCU sit atop the team leaderboard tied at 14-under, while Texas State is seventh at -1.
The Bobcats return to action for the event's final round alongside New Mexico and North Texas beginning at 8:30 a.m. CT Monday. Live scoring is available via Scoreboard, and the event will stream live on ESPN+.
