East Coast Trip for Soccer

SAN MARCOS, Texas – For the first time this season, Texas State (8-3-4, 4-0-2 Sun Belt) will play in the Eastern time zone when it travels to face Old Dominion (8-4-2, 3-1-2 Sun Belt) on Friday. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. CT from the ODU Soccer Stadium.
 
Fans can watch the contest on ESPN+ and live stats will also be available.
 
About Texas State
The Bobcats head into Friday on a 10-match unbeaten streak (6-0-4), which is the fourth longest in program history and tied for the eighth longest active streak in the nation, after beating ULM 3-2 at home on Sunday. Seven of the 10 contests have come away from San Marcos with that unbeaten run being the second longest in team history. TXST is one of three unbeaten teams left in conference play along with App State and James Madison.
 
Mady Soumare continues to pace the squad with six goals, three of which have been match-winners. Netting four goals apiece has been Sydney Bassa, Victoria Meza and Mya Ulloa. Three of Bassa's tallies have come from the penalty spot and Ulloa has converted two penalty kicks on the year.
 
Assisting on a team-high four goals has been Kaylie Smith. The foursome of Chloe Jones, Zoe Junior, Mady Soumare and Ulloa have been credited with three assists apiece.
 
Between the posts, Caitlyn Draper heads into Friday's clash leading the Sun Belt with a .841 save percentage and ranking second with a 0.94 GAA and 53 saves. Also seeing action in goal is Katelyn Chrisman, who has made 11 saves in six contests and nearly 400 minutes of action.
 
About Old Dominion
The Monarchs are undefeated in their last three matches after playing to a 2-2 draw at Georgia State on Sunday. They also claimed to 1-0 contests against Georgia Southern and at South Alabama. When playing at home, ODU is 6-1-1 with a 2-0-1 record in league matches. The lone loss came versus LSU on Sept. 1 by a score of 2-1.
 
Leading the team with seven goals, 15 points, 47 shots and 25 shots on goal is Rhea Kijowski. Only other players with multiple goals are Brooke Edwards and Katie Lutz with two each. Andrea Balcazar Algarin has been credited with a team-high three assists.
 
Emily Bredek has started nine matches in goal and posted a 0.80 GAA with 25 saves and a .806 save percentage. Appearing in nine contests with five starts is Erin Jones. She sports a 1.08 GAA with 17 saves and a .708 save percentage in nearly 585 minutes of action.
 
Series History
Texas State won the only previous meeting between the teams by a 2-1 score on Oct. 19, 2023. All three goals in the match came in the final 10 minutes of play beginning with a Monarch own goal. Ashlynn Kulha tied the contest 86 seconds later but Lily Erb hit a floater into the top right corner with nearly four minutes to play for the match-winning goal.
 
Friday will be the second ever match for the Bobcats in the state of Virginia. The first was on Oct. 13, 2023 when they played to a scoreless draw at James Madison.
