SAN MARCOS, TEXAS – Texas State women's tennis wrapped up its fourth fall tournament this past weekend, after three days of play at the ITA Texas Regional Championships.Â
The Bobcats secured 10 wins between the doubles and singles portions of the tournament and had one singles player (
Kiana Graham) and two doubles teams (
Sofia Fortuno/
Ireland Simme and
Callie Creath/
Kiana Graham) reach the round of 32 in the main draw of the competition.

Singles
For the first time since
Kendall Brooks was named head coach, the Bobcats featured three players in the main draw at the ITA Texas Regional Championships. Texas State secured eight wins in the singles portion of the tournament over three days of play.

Kiana Graham
Graham began play in the main draw and was the lone Bobcat to advance to the round of 32. In her round of 64 match, she defeated Iva Sepa from the University of Houston, 6-3, 4-6, 7-5 but fell 4-6, 1-6 in her round of 32 matchup.

This marked the third consecutive season that Graham has been featured in the main draw at the ITA Texas Regionals.

Sofia Fortuno
Fortuno began play in the qualifying round for the main draw and advanced after back-to-back wins. Her first victory was a 6-1, 7(7)-6(3) win over ACU's Maria Cascos, and her qualifying win came against Rice's Nithesa Selvaraj, 6-2, 6(5)-7(7), 6-3.

Fortuno dropped her first match in the main draw, losing 2-6, 2-6 to Sophia Llewellyn from SMU, and went on to withdraw from her round of 32 consolation match.

Callie Creath
Creath qualified for the singles main draw after a 6-4, 7(8)-6(6) win over Maria Castano in the qualifying round but lost her main draw match 0-6, 3-6 against Baylor's Wenfei Yu.

In the consolation bracket, she advanced to the round of 16 but fell 6(2)-7(7), 6-2 to UNT's Marina Adati.

Emily Niers
Niers was one win shy of qualifying for the main draw but lost in the qualifying round of 32 against Tarleton's Duru Kuscu, 2-6, 1-6. She earned her lone singles victory in the qualifying round of 64 against Carolina Laydner, 7(7)-6(4), 6-4.

Ireland Simme
Simme lost in the qualifying round of 64, 4-6, 3-6, to Rice's Anushka Ashar but bounced back in the consolation bracket, earning a 7(7)-6(4), 6-4 win over SHSU's Sara Sadadinovic.

Maria Lora
Lora also lost in her first match of the qualifying round but, like Simme, bounced back to find victory in the consolation round of 32. She earned her lone win by defeating the University of Texas's Maddy MacNaeillie, 6-3, 6-4.

Doubles
Texas State earned two wins during the doubles portion of the ITA Texas Regional Championships and had two teams advance to the round of 32 in the main draw.

Fortuno/Lora
Fortuno and Lora advanced to the round of 32 after an 8-2 victory over Hohmann and Schnabel from Sam Houston State. The pair then dropped their round of 32 match, 1-8, against a doubles team from Texas Tech.

Creath/Graham
Creath and Graham began play in the round of 32 after receiving a bye in the round of 64.Â
The duo lost their round of 32 match, 7(2)-8(7) but bounced back to earn a victory in consolation play.Â

They recorded an 8-3 victory in the consolation round of 32 but dropped their round of 16 match, 4-8, against Cave and Mamontova from SFA.

Niers/Simme
The duo of Niers and Simme lost their first match, 1-8, in the main draw of the doubles competition against UNT's Schultz and Shulzhenko. They found themselves in the consolation bracket and, after a bye and a pair of walkover wins, advanced to the quarterfinals of the consolation bracket.

In their quarterfinal match, the duo fell 5-8 to Tarleton State's Castano and Morales.

The Bobcats return to action at the Bobcat Tennis Complex on October 26-27, when they host the Bobcat Invitational.
