SAN MARCOS, Texas – The Texas State women's tennis team continues its stretch of home matches with two weekday matchups. The Bobcats will host UIW on Thursday at 2 p.m. and Sam Houston on Friday at 1 p.m. at the Bobcat Tennis Complex.
 
The Bobcats fell to 0-2 on the season after dropping their match with UTSA last Saturday, a match that came down to the last singles set. Kiana Graham, playing No. 1 in the lineup, secured her first singles win of the season against UTSA's undefeated Aleksandra Zlatarova. 
 
Sofia Fortuno and Andrea Pineda, playing on the fourth and fifth court, recorded their first singles wins of the season. Fortuno's match was a three-set victory, while Pineda made quick work of her opponent, winning the match in straight sets 6-3 and 6-0. 
 
About UIW
Under new head coach Courtney Steinbock, UIW travels to San Marcos with a 1-3 record on the year. 
 
Junior Isid Hernandez Leon is undefeated in singles matches this year for UIW. Leon has been featured on the third court three times, where she has recorded four wins.
 
This will be the eighth time Texas State and UIW will face-off and the Bobcats hold a 6-1 series lead. 
 
UIW defeated Texas State 4-3 the last time the two teams competed. 
 
About Sam Houston 
Sam Houston currently holds a 3-0 record on the season. The Bearkats have outscored their opponents 20-1 across their three matches of the season. 
 
Sam Houston is led by their No.1 and No. 2 players Megan Basson and Paula Cerda. Basson and Cerda are 2-0 in doubles on the first court and both players are undefeated in singles on their respective courts.
 
This will be the 15th meeting between Texas State and Sam Houston and the Bearkats hold an 8-6 series lead. 
 
Texas State won the match last year, defeating Sam Houston 4-3.
