SAN MARCOS, Texas ā The Texas State women's tennis team hosts rival UTSA this Saturday at 1 pm in its second home match of the season.Ā Ā
This will be the 19th matchup between the Bobcats and the Roadrunners. UTSA holds a series lead of 11-7 and won last year's matchup 4-1. Texas State last beat UTSA in 2015.Ā
The Bobcats fell in their season opener to North Florida last weekend. Callie Creath and Sofia Fortuno secured the lone doubles win for the Bobcats, and Creath, on the third court, secured the one team point with a win in singles.Ā
UTSA is coming to San Marcos carrying a two-match winning streak, with a 7-0 win over St. Mary's (TX) and a 6-1 win over Abilene Christian. UTSA is led by senior Aleksandra Zlatarova and sophomore Fatima Gutierrez. Zlatarova and Gutierrez are both undefeated in their singles matches at No. 1 and 2, respectively, in the lineup.Ā
After the matchup with the Roadrunners, the Bobcats will continue their homestand February 2 with a matchup against UIW.Ā
