CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – On the final day of the Islander Open Texas State tennis won two doubles flights, one singles flight, and two west divisions in the flights at the Thomas J. Henry Tennis Center on Sunday.
Doubles
Callie Creath and
Sofia Fortuno won Flight A with a 7-6 (8-6) victory over Naomi Mckenzie and Emma Aucagne from host school Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
The second doubles pair for Texas State to win their flight was
Kiana Graham and
Emma Carr, the pair defeated Lamar's Martina Alcaino Vergara and Megan Do 6-2 in Flight C.
Mae McCutcheon and
Jadeh Chan won the Flight A consolation match, along with
Emily Niers and
Jacqueline Schnabel earning third in Flight B.
Singles
Creath defeated Marjorie Souza from UTRGV 7-5, 2-6, 10-7 in the final to win Flight B. Chan won Flight D West with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Lamar's Natalia Turczuk. In the West division of Flight E, Carr won her final match against Luna Jokanovic from UTRGV 2-6, 6-4, 10-2.
Graham lost her Flight A final match 6-4, 6-4 to Emma Aucagne from Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
