SAN MARCOS, Texas – Texas State women's golf head coach
Par Nilsson announced today that the program has signed Oklahoma State graduate transfer Hailey Jones.
Jones ended her senior season with Oklahoma State competing in seven tournaments including the Big 12 Match Play event. The Dallas, Texas native opened the 2022-23 season with an 11
th place finish at the Carmel Cup, which would be her best finish of the season. At the ICON Invitational Jones recorded her second 18-hole total of 69 of the season to finish one-under 215, her best 54-hole total of the season.
Jones won her first career tournament at the Dale McNamara Invitational in the fall of 2021 shooting four under 212. In her junior season Jones went 2-0 in match play at the East Lake Cup to help lead Oklahoma State to a tournament victory. Jones finished in a tie for 13
th at the Mountain View Collegiate where she carded rounds of 71-70-70 (-5) 211, her best 54-hole total of the season, and one stroke behind the lowest of her career she set as a freshman.
In her debut collegiate season, Jones started in all seven tournaments for the Cowgirls prior to the season being cancelled due to COVID-19. As a freshman Jones recorded two top-10 finishes, one of those helping Oklahoma State to a tournament win.
Prior to Jones' collegiate career, she was a three-time Rolex AJGA All-American and was ranked No. 28 in the country by the organization. Jones won the 2019 Insperity Invitational/Patrick Reed AJGA Junior Championship and is a two-time winner at the Texas State Junior Championship.
The three-time Texas Junior Golf Tour Player of the Year advanced to the round of 32 in match play at the 2017 U.S. Women's Amateur Championship at the San Diego Country Club.
Jones will join the Texas State women's golf program for the 2023-24 season as a graduate student.
