MARICOPA, Ariz. – Texas State men's golf finished the first round of the inaugural National Golf Invitational (NGI) tied for fourth on Friday at the Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club. Marcelo Garza and Tom Roed Karlsen lead the Bobcats. 
 
Texas State is tied for fourth in the field of 13 teams after shooting three-under 285. This is the Bobcat's second-best opening round of a tournament, and third 18-hole total of 285 in a first round and of the season.
 
Wyoming sits in first after ending the first day eight-under 280. 
 
Marcelo Garza and Tom Roed Karlsen are at the top of the Bobcat lineup tied for 12^th at two-under 70. This is the Garza's third time recording a 70 this year, his season low. Karlsen recorded his fifth under par round after having six birdies on the day, the most among the Bobcats. 
 
Sakke Siltala is tied for 27^th after finishing the day even, this was the freshman's first time recording an opening round total of 72. Kasper Nyland and Jack Burke round out the Bobcat lineup both tied for 32^nd. Nyland recorded an eagle between bogeys on hole 16, his third eagle of the season. Burke had three birdies and four bogeys to close out the first round one-over.
