Bobcats Hit the Road to Take on Horned Frogs

SAN MARCOS, Texas – For the final time in the regular season Texas State (33-19) plays a road game when it travels to take on TCU (30-21) on Tuesday. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. from Lupton Stadium.
 
The contest will be streamed on ESPN+.

ABOUT TEXAS STATE
The Bobcats will be looking to snap a season-long three-game losing streak after being swept at Louisiana over the weekend. Despite the setbacks, the team did clinch a spot in the Sun Belt Conference tournament following Coastal Carolina's sweep of South Alabama. TXST is 10-3 this season in midweek games.
 
Davis Powell continues to lead the offense with a .350 average, 56 hits, 42 runs and 16 doubles. Freshman Chase Mora has hit a team best 15 home runs while batting .323 with 49 RBI and 34 runs scored. The freshman enters the game on a 10-game hitting streak. Also with double-digit homers is Jose Gonzalez (52 RBI) and August Ramirez (31 RBI) with 12 and 10, respectively.
 
Scheduled to start on Tuesday is Peyton Zabel. The right-hander will be making his ninth start of the season and has recorded a 2-1 record, 4.94 ERA and 25 strikeouts in 27.1 innings.
 
Triston Dixon (5-1, 4.86 ERA, 5 SV) has made a team-high 25 appearances in relief. Pacing all relievers with 58 strikeouts and a 3.38 ERA while also posting a 3-2 record and three saves is Jack Stroud. Also with a sub-4.00 ERA out of the bullpen is Jonathan Martinez at 3.86 over 16.1 innings.
 
ABOUT TCU
The Horned Frogs enter the game on a five-game winning streak after sweeping Baylor. Tuesday will be the final home game of the season as they go on the road for a series against Kansas State to wrap up that campaign. TCU is 20-11 at home with a 5-2 record in midweeks.
 
Anthony Silver enters leading the team with a .335 batting average. Cole Fontenelle has hit 10 homers with 41 RBI and a team best 16 doubles. Also batting over .300 is Karson Bowen (.329, 36 RBI) and Tre Richardson (.302, 38 RBI). A team best 17 long balls have come off the bat of Brayden Taylor, who is batting .295 with 44 RBI and scored 55 times.
 
The starter for Tuesday is to be announced.
 
Both Louis Rodriguez (2-1, 4.03 ERA, 45 K) and Garrett Wright (2-1, 2.21 ERA, 24 K) have earned three saves. Ben Abeldt has come out of the bullpen 21 times in his 22 appearances. The lefty is 1-3 with a 5.03 RA and 44 strikeouts over 34.0 innings. Cohen Feser has a staff-low 1.99 ERA in 22.2 innings spanning 15 relief outings.
 
SERIES VS. HORNED FROGS
TCU leads the all-time series 25-15. Texas State has won the last two meetings and four of the last five including an 8-4 ballgame earlier this season back on Mar. 14 in San Marcos.
 
When facing the Horned Frogs on the road, the Bobcats are 8-16. They were victorious in the last meeting in Fort Worth that came on Feb. 28, 2012 by a score of 1-0.
