SAN MARCOS, Texas – The last road series of the regular season sees Texas State (33-16, 15-9 Sun Belt) make the trip to the Pelican State to take on Louisiana (32-18, 14-10 Sun Belt) at Russo Park. Friday's first pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. followed by a 4 p.m. start on Saturday and 1 p.m. on Sunday.

Entering the weekend, the Bobcats are on a five-game winning streak and have won eight of its last nine games. Last weekend saw them complete a sweep of Georgia State to take over sole possession of third place in the Sun Belt Conference standings and are currently two games behind co-leaders Coastal Carolina and Southern Miss.

Davis Powell continues to be the spark plug of the offense with a team-high .369 average, 55 hits, 41 runs and 15 doubles.
Chase Mora comes in on a seven-game hitting streak and has record a base knock in 18 of the last 19 games. The freshman leads the team with 15 home runs and ranks second with 50 hits and 48 RBI. Also with double-digit homers is

Rashawn Galloway has supplanted himself in the lineup having recorded a base knock in 10 of the past 11 contests. In that time, he is batting .455 (20-for-44) with 10 runs, six RBI and four doubles.

ABOUT LOUISIANA
The Ragin' Cajuns are coming off a 12-8 loss on Tuesday at Louisiana Tech. Last weekend saw Louisiana go on the road and sweep ULM to move into a tie with Georgia Southern for fourth in the conference standings. At home, the Cajuns are 21-9 but just 6-6 in conference play. Their only series win was a sweep of Arkansas State while they dropped series to App State, Coastal Carolina and Troy.

Kyle DeBarge leads the team with a .361 average while totaling 37 runs, 29 RBI, 10 doubles and five home runs. Catcher Julian Brock has a team-high 10 homers and 55 RBI and is hitting .344. Heath Hood comes in with a squad best 66 hits and 32 stolen bases while hitting .344. Also with a batting average over .300 is Carson Roccaforte (54 R, 21 2B, 20 SB) and John Taylor (6 HR, 39 RBI) at .331 and .326, respectively. As a team, Louisiana has swiped 146 bases which ranks third in the nation.

Slated to start on Friday is Jackson Nezuh. The Florida State transfer is 7-4 with a 7.29 ERA and team-high 72 punch outs over 63.0 innings. Saturday will see Carson Fluno (1-0, 5.03 ERA, 36 K) make his third start of the season. Jake Hammond (3-3, 3.67 ERA, 50 K) is slated to ger the ball in Sunday's finale.

A team-high four saves have been earned by Blake Marshall. He is 2-1 with a 6.55 ERA and 25 strikeouts in 22.0 innings spanning 19 relief appearances. Cooper Rawls is 10-0 and has a 3.10 ERA and 36 strikeouts over 49.1 innings.

SERIES VS. RAGIN' CAJUNS
Louisiana leads the all-time series 25-21. Texas State swept the series last season in San Marcos but saw the Ragin' Cajuns eliminate the team in the Sun Belt semifinals by a score of 3-2.

The Bobcats are 10-12 when facing the Cajuns on the road but have won six of the last seven meetings. In 2021, Texas State won two of three games and in 2019 it swept the series. TXST has won at least one game in the six all-time series played in Lafayette.
