SAN MARCOS, Texas – Back-to-back games between Texas State (20-12) and No. 21 Texas (23-10) starts on Monday at Bobcat Ballpark with first pitch at 6 p.m. The teams will then faceoff on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. from Disch-Falk Field in Austin.

Fans can catch Monday's contest on ESPN+ with Brant Freeman and Ty Harrington on the call. Tuesday's game will be shown on Longhorn Network. Both games will also be broadcast on KTSW 89.9 FM.

ABOUT TEXAS STATE
The Bobcats are looking to return to their winning ways after going 1-3 last week with all four contests taking place on the road. Over their last eight games, six of them have been decided by a run and TXST has posted a 3-3 mark in those contests.

Davis Powell leads TXST with a .375 batting average and 13 doubles while his 26 runs scored are second on the team.
Jose Gonzalez enters with a team-high 39 RBI, 27 runs and eight stolen bases while hitting .310 with nine home runs. Leading the way in long balls is
Chase Mora with 12, the most ever by a Bobcat freshman. The Tomball, Texas native has also driven in 30 runs.

Scheduled to start on Monday is right-hander
Peyton Zabel. He will be making his fifth midweek start of the season. The junior has yet to receive a decision while posting a 7.15 ERA and 11 strikeouts in 11.1 innings. Tuesday's starter is to be announced.

Triston Dixon (1-1, 4.91 ERA, 4 SV) has made a team-high 17 appearances in relief and worked a total of 29.1 innings.
Jack Stroud paces all relievers and is second on the staff with 38 strikeouts. The lefty is also 2-2 with a 3.12 ERA and two saves in 26.0 innings on the rubber.

ABOUT TEXAS
The Longhorns will be playing their fourth and fifth consecutive games in as many days after their weekend series with Kansas State was pushed back a day due to weather. UT is 7-1 in midweek games with the lone loss coming at home to No. 1 LSU back on Feb. 28. When playing at home, the Longhorns are 20-3 but have posted a 3-7 mark when playing outside of Austin including a 3-4 record in true road contests.

Hitting a team leading seven homers has been Porter Brown, Eric Kennedy and Peyton Powell. Brown also leads the team with 42 hits and 31 RBI, Kennedy tops the squad with 29 runs and 11 doubles and Powell is hitting a team-high .358. Also batting over .300 with six long balls each is Dylan Campbell (.309, 14 SB) and Garrett Guillemette (.303).

Earning a team-high five saves has been Zane Morehouse. The right-hander is also 4-1 with a 3.19 ERA and 36 strikeouts over 31.0 innings spanning 14 games, including four starts. A save apiece has been earned by DJ Burke (1.84 ERA, 13 K) and Heston Tole (3.55 ERA, 17 K). David Shaw has made a team best 14 relief appearances and sports a 1-1 record, 1.66 ERA, 0.92 WHIP and 24 strikeouts in 21.2 innings.

SERIES VS. LONGHORNS
The all-time series is 54-13 in favor of Texas. Last season saw the road team win each of the two meetings. The Longhorns claimed a 9-8 victory in San Marcos that saw Texas State leave the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth. The next day, the Bobcats won 6-4 in Austin that ended with
Tristan Stivors striking out the eventual Golden Spikes Award winner Ivan Melendez to close out the game and claim the program's third-ever win over the No. 1 ranked team in the nation.

TXST is 2-8 all-time when hosting UT and 11-44 when playing on the road. Last time the Bobcats won consecutive games in the series was May 17, 2006 (3-2 in Austin) and Mar. 21, 2017 (11-10 in 10 innings in San Marcos). Two other times Texas State has won consecutive games in the series with both coming on the road. The first was in 1997 (2 games) and then a four-game stretch from 2000-02.
