Box Score ATLANTA – Texas State tennis won their first conference match this season with a 4-3 victory over Georgia State on Saturday at the Peachtree City Tennis Center. The win ended the Bobcats' eight-match losing streak.
Doubles
Texas State (5-13, 1-7 Sun Belt) snapped their five-match losing streak in doubles when
Sofia Fortuno and
Emily Niers clinched the point 6-0 on court two.
Jadeh Chan and
Maria Lora won the first doubles match of the day by default due to no team for Georgia State (1-14, 1-5 Sun Belt).
Kate Malazonia and
Mae McCutcheon were up 4-1 when play stopped.
This is the Texas State's third doubles point of the season.
Singles
Sofia Fortuno and
Mae McCutcheon extended the lead for the Bobcats to 3-0 against the Panthers. McCutcheon put herself back in the win column and Fortuno improved to a 9-4 record.
Andrea Pineda clinched the match for the Bobcats with a 6-2, 6-3 win on line four over Pragnya Kumar.
Kiana Graham and
Kate Malazonia both lost their matches 6-4, 6-4 to give Georgia State their first two points of the match. Michelle Ncube defeated
Emily Niers on court two to give the Panthers its final point of the match.
