SAN MARCOS, Texas – In the Texas State tennis road finale, the Bobcats will face Louisiana on Monday, April 17 at 2 p.m. in Lafayette, Louisiana.
The match was originally scheduled for Saturday but was moved back due to anticipated weather.
Texas State (5-14, 1-8 Sun Belt) split their previous weekend of matches on the road, including their first conference win of the season against Georgia State. The Bobcats earned their third doubles point this season when they ended a five-match losing streak in doubles with a court two win from
Sofia Fortuno and
Emily Niers.
Kate Malazonia and
Mae McCutcheon found their way back into the win column, each picking up singles wins against Troy.
About Louisiana
Louisiana (8-9, 3-6 Sun Belt) also saw the same weekend of results with a win over Georgia State and a loss to Troy. The Ragin' Cajuns are 6-4 at home with two of those wins being against conference opponents.
The only doubles pair to hold an active win streak for Louisiana is Angelique Berrat and Carla Urchoeguia, who improved to 8-5 on the top court. In singles Momoko Yoshimura earned her fourth straight win on line five, and Stephanie Atelius had her first outing on line six and got a three-set win.
Texas State leads the overall series 7-4 over Louisiana. In the last meeting between the teams the Bobcats defeated the Ragin' Cajuns 4-1 in Lafayette.
