AUSTIN, Texas – For the second straight year, Texas State (21-13) upset No. 19 Texas (24-11) on the road with a 9-3 win Tuesday night at Disch-Falk Field. The margin of victory was the largest since claiming a nine-run win on Apr. 10, 2001.

It is also the first time the Bobcats have won back-to-back games in Austin since winning four consecutive meetings from 2000 to 2002.

"Just a really quality game. We talk about it all the time about putting all three side of the game together. Tonight we pitched it really well, played good defense and had a lot of quality at bats. That was the complete game we had been asking for," said head coach
Steven Trout.

Chase Mora finished the night going 3-for-4 at the plate and scoring three times. Also finishing with three base knocks was
Peyton Lewis. Coming off the bench,
August Ramirez hit two doubles and drove in three runs. Finishing with two RBI in the contest was
Ryder Hernandez.

Picking up the win was
Cameron Bush (1-1). The right-hander struck out two in two innings while giving up an unearned run on three hits.
Triston Dixon earned his fifth save of the season after throwing four scoreless frames and set a career-high with seven strikeouts. Taking the loss was Cameron O'Banan after allowing three runs on two hits and only recording two outs.

Jack Stroud made his first start in a Texas State uniform and went three innings with four strikeouts while giving up two runs on four hits.

A solo home run to left center off the bat of Dylan Campbell in the first inning to give the Longhorns a 1-0 advantage.

In the next half inning,
Ryan Leary and Lewis had back-to-back singles to put runners on the corners. Hernandez then laid down a sacrifice bunt down the first baseline that brought home Leary to tie the game.

The tie contest was short lived as Mitchell Daly hit a solo homer into the visiting bullpen in the bottom of the second to make it a 2-1 lead for UT.

Mora started the fourth off with a double to left center and would move within 90 feet of scoring on a groundout. Two batters later, Lewis sent a 2-2 offering over the shortstop's head to left center to knot the score.

With two on and two outs, Mora was able to send a 1-1 offering into shallow centerfield for an RBI single to put TXST in the lead. After
Daylan Pena was walked, Ramirez came on as a pinch hitter and doubled down the left field line to plate two that extended the lead to 5-2.

UT would get a run back in the bottom half on a double off the bat of Peyton Powell to cut the lead to two runs.

Cade Manning laced a double that fell just fair down the right field line. He would come home when
Ben McClain singled to left center that increased the advantage to three runs in the top of the sixth. A three-run frame would follow with runs plated by Hernandez, Manning and Ramirez to make it a 9-3 contest heading to the seventh inning stretch.

Dixon would set down the Longhorns in order over the final two innings with two strikeouts apiece in each frame to wrap up the victory.

Next up for the Bobcats is a Sun Belt Conference series at Bobcat Ballpark against Marshall beginning on Friday at 6 p.m.
