ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Daniel Harrold ran 7.75 in the 60 meter hurdles to set a new school record – a record he previously owned – as Texas State track and field wrapped up the New Mexico Collegiate Classic on Saturday at the Albuquerque Convention Center.
Â
Harrold ran the fastest time in school history in the men's 60 meter hurdles in the meet's prelims and followed up that performance with a 7.79 in the finals, which was the second-fastest time in program history.
Â
A senior out of Houston, Harrold has now set the school record in the men's 60 hurdles twice this season. The previous program-best was 7.80 ran by Harrold at the Red Raider Open in Lubbock two weeks ago.
Â
Harrold's school record is one of seven set by the Bobcats this indoor season, including three over the weekend at the New Mexico Collegiate Classic.
Dominick Yancy and
Sedrickia Wynn set program-bests in the men's and women's indoor 200, respectively.
Â
Wynn also recorded some of the top times in school history on Saturday. She ran 8.26 in the women's 60 meter hurdles, which was the second-fastest ever by a Bobcat, and 7.38 in the women's 60 meter dash, which was third-fastest.
Â
The men's 4x400 relay team, which has ran under 3:10.00 in all three of its outings this year, ran 3:08.37 on Saturday for the second-fastest time in school history. The group of
Brian West,
Taahir Kelly,
Avery Veiseh and Yancy fell only .16 hundredths of a second from matching the school record – a record they set earlier this year.
Â
In addition to anchoring the relay, Yancy ran a personal-best 6.78 in the men's 60 meter dash. It was one of five PRs registered by the Bobcats on Saturday.
Â
Simon Thor finished fifth in the heptathlon with 5,065 points. The junior out of Sweden's point total was seventh-most in school history.
Â
The Bobcats will wrap up their indoor regular season next weekend with the Tyson Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark. and the Howie Ryan Invitational in Houston.
