HUMBLE, Texas – Junia Gabasa ends the opening day of the ICON Invitational in third and set a new low 18-hole score at the Golf Club of Houston, Texas State ended the day in 11
th.

Texas State recorded a new round one low by one stroke of 283, followed by a second-round score three-over 291 to put them two-under at the end of day one. The Bobcats were the last team to finish under-par and finished in front of three top-50 ranked teams by a minimum of five strokes.Â

No. 10 Texas A&M leads the field of 16 teams 25-under par.Â

Junia Gabasa stayed steady within the top-five through both rounds and finished the day in third with 12 birdies. In the first round the junior fired a four-under 68 to set a new low 18-hole score, and then topped that with a seven-under 65. Gabasa is three strokes behind Texas A&M's Zoe Slaughter in first.Â

Matilda Svahn finished the day even tied for 40 with two rounds of 72 and two bogeys in each round. Freshman
Yvonne Chamness shot one-under 71 in the first round, but fell on the leaderboard to tie for 61 after going five-over with six bogeys and a double bogey in the second round.
Marine Griffaut finished one stroke behind Chamness with an even first round.Â
