SAN MARCOS, Texas – Texas State tennis begins a seven-match homestand when they host UTRGV Saturday, Feb. 18 at 1 p.m. and Stephen F. Austin at 11 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 19 at the Bobcat Tennis Complex.
Texas State (1-4) dropped both of their matches last weekend, including a close 4-3 loss to Tarleton State in their home opener. In the last outing
Kate Malazonia won both of her singles matches against Tarleton State and UTSA and a doubles match against the Roadrunners with
Mae McCutcheon. Against UTSA
Andrea Pineda had her two-match singles win streak on line four snapped.
UTRGV (0-3) has played every match on the road so far this season and will add to that when they come to San Marcos. The Vaqueros were shutout by Baylor to open the season, followed by two 6-1 losses to Houston and Lamar. This season UTRGV has swept a pair of Western Athletic Conference weekly awards, Isabelle Bahr was named the Singles Player of the Week and the duo of Bahn and Yaiza Vazques earned Doubles Players of the Week Jan. 24.
The Bobcats and Vaqueros have faced off this past fall at the Texas State Invitational where the Bobcats earned three doubles wins.

Jadeh Chan,
Jacqueline Schnabel and
Emily Niers also picked up wins against UTRGV. Texas State currently has an eight-match win streak against the Vaqueros, the last meeting between the two was a 7-0 sweep by Texas State in 2021 at home. Texas State hosts UTRGV Saturday, Feb. 18 at 1 p.m. at the Bobcat Tennis Complex.
Stephen F. Austin (2-3) won their first match of the season on the road against Jackson State and have been shut out by Louisiana Tech and Houston. The Ladyjacks are coming off a 4-3 loss to ULM on Thursday. Texas State holds the all-time series record 11-5 against SFA with a 5-3 home record. The Bobcats close out the weekend with the Ladyjacks on Sunday, Feb. 19 at 11 a.m.
