SAN MARCOS, Texas – Four Texas State soccer student-athletes were named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team on Tuesday. Earning the honors were
Lily Erb,
Lucy Hart,
Chloe Jones and
Mady Soumare.
The Academic All-District teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. To qualify for the Academic All-District and All-American teams, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically, hold a minimum cumulative 3.50 GPA and have competed in at least 90% of the team's competitions.
Erb played in all 20 matches this season and started 12 contests. The sophomore midfielder finished the year with two goals and three assists in over 1,189 minutes on the pitch. She tallied her first career match-winning goal against Old Dominion late in the 86th minute of a 2-1 victory. In the classroom, Erb has recorded a 3.89 GPA and is majoring in marketing.
Hart played and started all 20 matches on the backline and totaled 1,579 minutes of action. The Northern Colorado transfer finished the 2023 season with one goal and one assist while taking 12 shots. Her lone goal of the season was the eventual match-winner in a 3-1 victory over McNeese in the season opener. She is majoring in applied arts & sciences and has a perfect 4.00 GPA.
Jones was one of four Bobcats to start all 20 matches this year, doing so in the midfield. The sophomore was on the pitch for 1,490 minutes were she finished with a goal and two assists. Her goal was the first of her career and was a memorable one as it came with one second left on the clock in Texas State's 3-3 regular season finale draw against Southern Miss. Jones has recorded a 4.00 GPA while working towards her degree in computer science.
Soumare finished her first year in a Bobcat uniform with four goals, the second most on the team, while leading the squad with three match-winning goals. She also recorded an assist in her 18 matches on the pitch. The Parisian has earned a 3.75 GPA and is majoring in applied arts & sciences.
Academic All-District honorees are considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-American ballot. First, second and third team Academic All-American honorees will be announced in early December.
