SAN MARCOS, Texas – The Texas State soccer team (6-4-2, 1-1-2 Sun Belt) is back home to take on Coastal Carolina (3-7-1, 0-3-1 Sun Belt) Thursday evening at the Bobcat Soccer Complex with kickoff set for 7 p.m.
Admission to the match is free. Fans can also catch the match on ESPN+, listen on KTSW 89.9 FM and follow long via live stats.
Fans planning to attend the match will need to avoid Academy Street from Alamo Street to Holland Street as it will be closed due to repair work.
About Texas State
The Bobcats look to get back in the win column after being held winless in their last three matches (0-1-2). Their six-match unbeaten streak came to an end last Friday with a 1-0 setback at Georgia State.
Continuing to pace TXST with three goals is
Halle Garcia,
Zoe Junior,
Mady Soumare and
Olivia Wright. The only other TXST player with multiple goals is
Victoria Meza with two. She is also tied for the team lead with three assists along with
Kennley Bradley.
Caitlyn Draper has started the past five matches in goal. She continues to lead all freshmen in the nation with a 0.45 GAA and .900 save percentage and overall ranks of sixth and 16th, respectively, in the country. The Hutto, Texas native has made four saves apiece in the last three contests to up her season total to 27 and has also recorded three solo shutouts on the year.
About Coastal Carolina
Heading into Thursday's match, the Chanticleers have lost two straight and three of their last four. The only non-loss in Sun Belt Conference play was a 1-1 draw against App State on Sept. 20. CCU has allowed seven goals in league action with all of them coming in the second half. Of the final six matches, the Chanticleers will play four of them on the road.
Both Lou Martinet and Emily Petring have netted a team-high three goals and totaled seven points. Petring also leads the team with 20 shots, 14 shots on goal, two match-winning goals and four yellow cards. Also scoring once this season has been Cami Wiles and Natalie Yoo.
All 990 possible minutes in goal have been played by Vivienne Carr. The Lamar transfer has made 58 saves with a .753 save percentage and a 1.73 GAA.
All-Time vs. Chanticleers
The all-time series is tied 3-3-0. CCU won the first three meetings while TXST has been victorious in the last three contests. Five of the six matches have been decided by a goal. The exception was in Conway, S.C. on Oct. 18, 2019 that saw the Bobcats win 2-0 behind goals from Kaylee Davis and Jessica Pikoff.
Last time the programs met was in San Marcos on Sept. 16, 2021. A 2-1 victory was claimed overtime.
Bailey Peschel scored the tying goal in the 56 minute and Trinity Clark walked it off with one second left in the first overtime period.
Texas State is 2-1-0 when hosting the Chanticleers. The first win came in the regular season finale on Oct. 21, 2018. Kaylee Davis scored the lone goal of the 1-0 victory that also clinched the Bobcats' first-ever Sun Belt regular season championship.
