KAPOLEI, Hawaii – Texas State men's golf is in third after the first round of the Kapolei Invitational on Tuesday, with Kasper Nyland tied for third at the Kapolei Golf Course. 
 
Team
Texas State went 17-under 271 and is in third following the first round of the Kapolei Invitational, the lowest 18-hole total of the season. With today's round the Bobcats tied the school record for single round team score.
 
In the field of 19 teams, Texas State is two strokes behind No. 23 Baylor and three strokes behind No. 53 Florida Gulf Coast. Texas State is in front of two top-50 ranked teams. 
 
The Bobcats lead the field in par 3 scoring and pars. 
 
Individual
Kasper Nyland is tied for third after shooting six-under 66 in the first round. This is the second time this season that Nyland recorded a round of 66, his lowest 18-hole total. The senior is one stroke behind the first place finishers. 
 
In his first outing in the fall season, Sakke Siltala tied for 11^th after going seven-under par. Marcelo Garza tied his 18-hole season low recording a first round of four-under 68. 
 
With an eagle and three birdies Tom Roed Karlsen stayed under par and tied for 37^th with a round of 70. Jack Burke finished the round two-over par and leads the field in pars with 16.
