SAN MARCOS, Texas – Eighth seeded Texas State (8-6-4, 3-3-4 Sun Belt) opens the Sun Belt Conference Tournament on Monday when it takes on ninth seed Louisiana (7-8-2, 4-6-0 Sun Belt). Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Foley Sports Complex.

The regular season for the Bobcats ended in a dramatic 3-3 draw against the Golden Eagles on Thursday in San Marcos.
Chloe Jones scored the tying goal with one second left on the clock. It was the latest goal scored by a TXST player in regulation in team history. Also finding the back of the net in the first half was senior
Mya Ulloa and
Olivia Wright.
A team-high six goals and 15 points have been recorded by Wright. The trio of
Zoe Junior,
Victoria Meza and
Mady Soumare have scored three goals apiece. A team best six assists belons to
Kennley Bradley. Her total is tied for the sixth most in a season in program history and is the first player to reach the mark since 2017. Right behind her with four assists each are Junior and Meza while
Lily Erb and Ulloa have three assists apiece.
Caitlyn Draper has started the last 11 matches in goal where she has recorded a 1.26 with 54 saves and a .771 save percentage. The Hutto, Texas native's five shutouts are the second most by a TXST freshman goalkeeper.
About Louisiana
The Ragin' Cajuns ended the regular season with a 1-0 win over Marshall for their third consecutive win at home. On the road, LA is 3-5-2 with a 1-4-0 mark against conference opponents. The win was a 1-0 decision at Old Dominion on Sept. 21. The Cajuns will be playing in the Sun Belt Tournament for the first time since 2021 when they played to a 1-1 draw with Little Rock before falling 3-0 in penalty kicks.
Megan Bradley leads the squad with four goals, nine points and seven shots on goal. Finding the back of the net twice has been Emma Bates, Briana Henry, Sisley Stephens and Hailly Waterhouse. A team-high three assists belongs to Mary Mueth. The only other players with multiple assists are Alyssa Abbot and Mariella Stephens with two apiece.
In goal, Makenna Grace started the first 13 matches where she recorded a 1.52 GAA with 65 saves and a .792 save percentage. Following a season-ending injury to Grace, Natalie Mayes has started the last four contests between the posts. She sports a 1.56 GAA with 34 saves and a .791 save percentage. After surrendering five goals to South Alabama in her first start, Mayes has allowed just two goals over the last three contests.
All-Time vs. Ragin' Cajuns
Texas State leads the all-time series 10-2-1 over Louisiana. The regular season meeting this year saw the Bobcats win 3-0 behind second half goals from
Halle Garcia, Junior and Soumare. The win extended TXST's unbeaten streak to three matches in the series.
Last time the Bobcats lost to the Cajuns was Oct. 4, 2020 on the road by a score of 1-0. Another setback also came on the road in Texas State's first season in the Sun Belt with it being a 5-2 contest on Oct. 18, 2013.
Monday will be the first-ever meeting between the teams in the Sun Belt Tournament.
