SAN MARCOS, Texas – The Texas State women's tennis team is scheduled to open their spring season on the road this weekend. The Bobcats will take on Sam Houston in Huntsville, Texas on Friday, January 27 at 1 p.m. before a Saturday matchup with Houston on January 28 at 9 a.m.
The Bobcats ended its 2022 season with a 6-16 record and concluded the season in the quarterfinals of the conference championship against number one seed South Alabama.

Kiana Graham had a strong fall outing, making it to the round of 64 in the main draw at the ITA Texas Regional Championship and won the top singles flight at the TXST Invite. At the same tournament hosted by the Bobcats, returning duo
Kate Malazonia and
Mae McCutcheon won the top doubles flight.
Sam Houston is off to a 2-1 start, winning both of their matches at home against Prairie View and a close 4-3 loss at Lamar. The Bobcats have a 7-6 advantage over the Bearkats in the all-time series, with the last meeting between the two in 2020. In the 2022 season, Sam Houston finished 9-11, and 2-3 in the WAC.
Houston will be hosting the Bobcats as part of its five match homestand. The Cougars are 1-2 after falling to No. 5 Texas A&M and Baylor, with a 6-1 win over UTRGV. Houston takes the all-times series with an 8-0 record against Texas State. Last season the Cougars finished with a 14-10 record and went 2-2 in the American Athletic Conference.
Following the pair of road tests, the Bobcats will travel to San Antonio for a matchup against UIW February 4 before their home opener against Tarleton State February 11.
