Back to Lubbock for the Red Raider Open

Bobcats are coming off 3 school records in last week's meet in Lubbock

Following an opening weekend that featured three school records and double-digit PRs across the men's and women's teams, Texas State returns to action to its same location as last weekend with this week's Red Raider Open at the Sports Performance Center in Lubbock. The one day starts at 10 am on Friday.

The Bobcats competed in Lubbock last weekend in the season-opening Corky Classic. In the event, Sedrickia Wynn (60 meter hurdles), Dominick Yancy (200) and the men's 4x400 relay all set indoor school records to highlight the showing by Texas State. Yancy was on the relay team as well, joined by Taahir Kelly, Avery Veiseh and Brian West.

Yancy was named the Sun Belt Conference Men's Track Athlete of the Week earlier this week after setting the two school records.

The standout performances from last weekend were not limited to those three, though. Sadi Giles ran the second-fastest 60 meter dash time in school history at 7.40 (she already owns the school record with a time of 7.38). Melanie Duron set a freshman school record in the women's indoor shot put with a throw of 52-6.5/16.01m. And Ashton Callahan and West ran top-10 times in the 200, with Callahan running 21.20 for the third-fastest in school history while West ran 21.35 for the seventh-fastest.

Live results for the Red Raider Open will be available and can be watched on ESPN+. The last event – the men's 4x400 relay – starts at 4 pm.
