KINGSVILLE, Texas – In the second tournament of the season
Jadeh Chan won the third singles flight, and the Bobcats went 5-1 in doubles at the Javelina Jam.
"It was another great tournament for us," said head coach
Kendall Brooks. "We gained more experience and I thought we made a lot of progress, especially in the toughness category."
SINGLES
Jadeh Chan won the third flight 6-3, 2-6, 10-7 against teammate
Jacqueline Schnabel. This gives Chan a 6-0 start in singles this fall.
Schnabel made her first singles appearance for the Bobcats and advanced to the finals match. In semifinals, she swept her opponent 6-0,6-0.
"I was really impressed with Jacqueline in her first outing in singles," Brooks said. "She played really tough tennis until she ran into one of her own teammates."
Mae McCutcheon and
Andrea Pineda each won two matches in the top singles draw.
Graduate transfer
Emma Carr recorded her first wins at Texas State, winning two out of three matches.
DOUBLES
The Bobcats went 5-1 in their doubles matches. McCutcheon and Pineda won their semifinals match 6-2 and won the flight 6-1 in the final round.
"Mae and Andrea both showed high levels of tennis they are capable of," said Brooks. "I think we will be ready to head into the ITA Regionals next week."
The Bobcats travel to Fort Worth, Texas for the ITA Texas Regional Championships Sept. 22-26.
