SAN MARCOS, Texas- No. 9 Texas State (5-15, 2-8) will take on No. 8 Appalachian State (5-15, 3-7) in the first match of the 2022 Sun Belt Conference women's tennis championship in Peachtree City, Georgia on Thursday, April 21 at 10:00 a.m. (ET).
South Alabama, Georgia State and UTA share the 2022 Sun Belt Conference Women's Tennis Regular-Season Championship and have earned the top-three seeds in the event. After all three-team tiebreaking procedures were exhausted, the top-three seeds were determined in a draw by Sun Belt Conference Commissioner Keith Gill.
Earlier in the season, Texas State lost 4-0 for their third conference loss of the season at Appalachian State on March 20.
In that matchup,
Sofia Fortuno and
Kylee Shannon won the lone doubles match for the Bobcats 6-3. Texas State lost three singles matches, and Fortuno's went unfinished.
With a win over Appalachian State, Texas State will move on to the quarterfinals to face No. 1 South Alabama on Friday, April 22 at 10 a.m. (ET).
The Bobcats and Mountaineers first round match will take place at the Peachtree City Tennis Center. All 10 matches of the championship will be broadcasted on ESPN+ and will have live results.
