SAN MARCOS, Texas- Texas State begins their four-match homestand when they welcome Troy and South Alabama to town for a pair of conference matches March 26 and 27 at 10 a.m. Fifth year senior
Hana Kvapilova enters the weekend as the Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week.
The Bobcats
Texas State (4-10, 1-3) is coming off a week of tough losses against Liberty, Coastal Carolina and Appalachian State.
Hana Kvapilova was named the Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week when she extended her singles match win streak to four, defeating Victoire De Samucewics 6-3, 7-5 on court one in Coastal Carolina territory. She also teamed up with
Kate Malazonia on line one to clinch the doubles point for the Bobcats against the Chanticleers.
Mae McCutcheon and
Jadeh Chan also helped in the doubles point victory at Coastal, winning 6-1 on court two.
Sofia Fortuno and
Kylee Shannon won their doubles match 6-3 on court three at Appalachian State.
The Trojans
Troy (6-9, 1-3) comes to San Marcos with a recent 4-2 win over Georgia Southern, and three conference losses to ULM, Louisiana and Georgia State.
The last meeting for the Bobcats and Trojans was in 2019 when Troy won 4-1 at home.
Anastasiia Khokhlova and Andrea Widing are 6-5 in doubles on court one. Kristina Kukaras and Michelle Ncube are 8-5 on courts two and three combined.
The Trojans have their strength in singles in the bottom of the lineup. Hagar Amin is 5-2 on line four, and Franziska Ahrend is 5-3 on line six.
Texas State hosts Troy Saturday, March 26 at 10 a.m. at the Bobcat Tennis Complex.
The Jaguars
South Alabama (14-2, 4-0) is on a six-match win streak, with four of them being conference wins. The Jaguars are hot at home with a 12-1 record.
The last meeting between Texas State and South Alabama was in 2019 in Mobile, Alabama where the Jaguars won 7-0.
Sophomore Otoha Aoki is on nine-match win streak on line four.
Nikola Kohoutova and Luminita Tutunaru have won 11 of the Jaguar's 13 matches at the No.1 doubles spot.
