Bobcats Head to Houston for Matchup with Rice

SAN MARCOS, Texas- The Bobcats (2-4) make their way to Houston (3-1) to play Rice Friday, Feb. 18 at the George R. Brown Tennis Center, following a weekend of losses and a postponed match.
 
Texas State was scheduled to play Prairie View A&M Wednesday Feb. 16, but the match got postponed for the second time this season due to weather.
 
This will be the 27th meeting of the programs. Rice has won all the matches dating back to the 1986-87 season. All but three matches have been played in Houston. 
 
Texas State will be part of Rice's four match homestand.
 
TXST
The team is coming off the previous weekend with two losses at Northwestern State 1-5, and at Louisiana Tech 2-5. 
 
Fifth-year senior Hana Kvapilova was the only Bobcat to go undefeated in her singles matches in flight No. 1. She defeated Rozalie Dohnalova from Northwestern State 6-4, 6-2, and Leonie Schuknecht from Louisiana Tech 7-6, 6-2. 
 
Freshman Maria Lora won her match against Ana Rodrigues at Louisiana Tech 6-4, 7-5. 
 
The Bobcats did not play doubles at Northwestern State due to weather, and they lost two matches and one went unfinished at Louisiana Tech.
 
RICE
The Owls are currently on a winning streak of two matches. They defeated FAU 4-3, and swept Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi 7-0. Their one loss of the season is from SMU 2-4. 
 
In the fall season, Rice advanced a pair of teams to the quarterfinals of the doubles draw at the ITA Women's Texas Region before both were eliminated to end their action.  
 
Last season the team was 15-7 overall, and 2-1 in Conference USA.

The Bobcats begin home play as they host Sam Houston in San Marcos on Friday, Feb. 25 at 12 p.m.
