Women’s Basketball looks to catch the Roadrunners for a fifth straight time

SAN MARCOS, TX — The Texas State women's basketball program will look to continue its hot start to its 2022-23 home slate as the Bobcats play host to the UTSA Roadrunners on Wednesday, Nov. 30 at 7 p.m. CT inside Strahan Arena at the University Events Center.

Wednesday night's action will be available to stream on ESPN+ with Brant Freeman and Suzanne Fox calling the action.

FAST AND FURRY-OUS
  • The Texas State and UTSA women's basketball programs first met on the hardwood on Nov. 23, 1981, when the Roadrunners won 89-69.
    • Since then, the two programs have met every season with the exception of the 2020-21 season, which ended a streak of 38 consecutive seasons playing at least one game against each other.
  • Texas State will enter Wednesday night's game with a four-game winning streak, which is the longest such streak by either program since UTSA won seven straight from Jan. 28, 2009 to Jan. 21, 2012.
  • Texas State's fifth-year seniors — Kennedy Taylor, Ja'Kayla Bowie, Da'Nasia Hood and Jaeda Reed — are 3-0 against UTSA during their Bobcat careers.
    • 2018: Texas State 68, UTSA 60
    • 2019: Texas State 74, UTSA 69 (OT)
    • 2020: DNP
    • 2021: Texas State 76, UTSA 62
      • When the two programs played at UTSA last season, San Antonio native Da'Nasia Hood became the 20th student-athlete to join the Texas State women's basketball 1,000 career point club as she finished with 14 points in the Bobcats' win.
BEEP, BEEP
  • Texas State's fifth-year point guard Kennedy Taylor will enter Wednesday night's matchup against UTSA sitting atop the Sun Belt Conference in three different statistical categories:
    • Assist/Turnover Ratio: 2.47
    • Assists: 37
    • Assists Per Game: 7.4
  • Taylor is also ranked in the top six in three additional categories:
    • Steals Per Game: 2.60 (6th)
    • Three Point Percentage: 47.8 (2nd)
    • Three Pointers Per Game: 2.20 (5th)
GOING! GOING! GOSH!
  • Wednesday night's game against UTSA will provided both Kennedy Taylor and Da'Nasia Hood another opportunity to continue to climb several career statistical lists:
