SAN MARCOS, TX. — Not only did the Texas State volleyball program exceed on the court during the 2022 regular season, but also in the classrooms as three Bobcat student-athletes were selected as members of the 2022 Academic All-District Women's Volleyball Teams as selected by the College Sports Communicators, the organization announced Tuesday. 

Emily DeWalt, Jacqueline Lee and Tessa Marshall became Texas State volleyball's first College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District recipients since Emily Jones Wilkes earned all-district first team honors 2008. Wilkes, who also earned all-district second team honors in 2007, was one of just two student-athletes — prior to Tuesday's announcement — to receive then-CoSIDA Academic All-District honors with Krystal Kolkhorst being the other. 

On the court, DeWalt picked up her fifth Sun Belt Setter of the Year and second straight Sun Belt Player of the Year award this season. Lee earned her first career Sun Belt Conference Defensive Player of the Week honor following a standout performance in two matches at South Alabama. And Marshall placed her name atop the program's career attack percentage list after leading the team with a .389 attack percentage. 

The College Sports Communicators, formerly known as CoSIDA, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America program recognizes volleyball honorees across four divisions: NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA. 

Academic All-District honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. First- and second-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced in late December after a vote by CSC members.
