CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Marine Griffaut tied for eighth three-under par at the Hurricane Invitational for her highest finish this season, Texas State finished 11
th as a team at the 36-hole tournament at the Biltmore Golf Course.
"After a slow start in the tournament, we finished strong beating several ranked teams for today's round," said Texas State women's golf head coach
Par Nilsson. "Marine played well the whole tournament and showed that she stacks up well in a strong field like this."
Texas State held their 11
th place position through the third round with three under 285, their lowest round of the tournament and fourth lowest among 12 teams. The Bobcats concluded the tournament nine-over par, their best of the season, and three strokes behind No. 38 Nebraska, No. 10 Kent State and Illinois who were in a three-way tie for eighth.
INDIVIDUAL
Griffaut ended the final tournament of the fall tied for eighth, her highest finish of the season. She maintained her position in the top 10 through the final round of the tournament, falling one spot from round two. She went even on the course to finish three-under and ahead of three top-50 ranked players according to Golfstat.
Matilda Svahn finished second in the lineup among the Bobcats and tied for 32
nd overall shooting five-under 67 in the final round, for her best round and highest finish of the season. The sophomore climbed 24 spots on the leaderboard with the help of six birdies. Svahn had 40 pars in the tournament, the second most among 71 competitors.
Griffaut and
Federica Tavelli-Westerlund both recorded an eagle on hole 18 in the third round.

The Bobcats return for the start of their spring season on Feb. 5-6 when they host the Texas State Invitational in Kyle, Texas at Plum Creek Golf Club.
Texas State will be competing in six tournaments in the spring before the Sun Belt Conference Championship tournament April 16-18 in Daytona Beach, Florida.
