SAN MARCOS, Texas – The Texas State women's tennis program will play at home for the first time this season when they welcome three teams to the Bobcat Tennis Complex for the TXST Fall Invite Oct. 8-9.
This will be the first time the program will play on their home courts under a new head coach since 2003. Following the retirement of Tory Plunkett,
Kendall Brooks was selected as the new head coach. This will also be the first time that transfers
Emma Carr and
Kiana Graham, along with freshmen
Andrea Pineda and
Jacqueline Schnabel will take the courts for a match.
The TXST Fall Invite will feature competition from McNeese, UTRGV and UIW. The tournament will have a hidden duel format with play beginning at 9 a.m. both days.
On Saturday Oct. 8 the Bobcats will play singles matches against UTRGV and UIW, and doubles against McNeese. For the last day of the tournament, Texas State will play singles against McNeese and doubles against UTRGV and UIW.
The Bobcats recently finished a two-day run at the ITA Texas Regional Championship.
Kiana Graham advanced to the round of 64 in the main draw and won her consolation match.
Mae McCutcheon teamed up with Graham in the round of 32 doubles, while
Jadeh Chan and
Andrea Pineda walked away with a win in their doubles match.
The TXST Fall Invite will be the last tournament in the fall portion of the schedule, the Bobcats will resume action on Jan. 27 in Huntsville, Texas to take on Sam Houston.
