Mattingly Palmer closes out the opening day of the Jim West Challenge at the Kissing Tree Golf Club tied for fourth while Texas State sits in 12
th.
TEAM
The Bobcats are in 12
th place in a field of 15 teams, eight of them being ranked in the top-50. Texas State shot 306 in round one but improved to 288 in the final round of the day for 18-over par. The team had a combined 42 birdies and three eagles in two rounds.
Texas State is one stroke behind No. 33 New Mexico and two strokes behind No. 31 Ohio State.
No. 27 Oklahoma State is at the top of the leaderboard shooting nine-under, while all teams in the top-6 are ranked.
INDIVIDUAL
Mattingly Palmer shot her two lowest rounds of her debut season so far, going under-par in both rounds. The Baylor transfer shot a 69 in the first round followed by a 71 in the second with an eagle on hole 18. She finished in front of 10 top-100 players shooting four-under. She leads the Bobcats and the three other individuals competing.
Fellow sophomore
Matilda Svahn ended the day three-over par. She closed out the final round of the day with a 73.
Marine Griffaut finished just outside of the top-35 with four-over. After a double and triple bogey today, Griffaut had an eagle on hole five in the second round.
Freshman
Yvonne Chamness finished third in the Texas State lineup in her second outing for the Bobcats.

For the final round of the Jim West Challenge the Bobcats will be paired with Ohio State and New Mexico. There will be an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start.
