Bobcats Lead from the Start in Conference Win

SAN MARCOS, Texas – The Texas State men's basketball team (10-4, 1-1 Sun Belt) never trailed as it picked up the first Sun Belt Conference victory of the season over ULM (9-8, 1-4 Sun Belt) 80-56 Thursday night in Strahan Arena.

Netting the first baskets of the game was Nate Martin via a layup and Caleb Asberry followed with the first of his four three-pointers on the night for an early 5-0 Bobcat lead. The Warhawks followed Asberry's trey with one of their own to make it a two-point contest. That would be as close as they would get as TXST eventually went ahead by 22 late the in first half.

A jumper by ULM's Russell Harrison opened the scoring and cut the Bobcats advantage to 14. Shelby Adams knocked down a jumper of his own to kick start an 15-3 run for Texas State to go up 66-38 with 13:49 remaining. The rest of the game saw the Bobcats maintain a 20-point advantage.

Recording his second career double-double and the first of the season was Asberry with 19 points and 10 rebounds, which tied his career-high. Also finishing in double-figures was Shelby Adams and Mason Harrell with 14 points apiece and Isiah Small chipped in 13 and grabbed seven rebounds.
