Bobcats Look to Bounce Back at Troy

SAN MARCOS, Texas – After suffering its first Sun Belt Conference loss, the Texas State soccer team (5-3-1, 2-1-0 Sun Belt) look to return to the win column on Sunday at Troy. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. at the Troy Soccer Complex.
 
The match will be streamed on ESPN+ with live stats also available.
 
Goals2Cure
This season's Goals2Cure initiative sees the Bobcats raise funds for each goal scored at home and shirts sold. The proceeds will be donated to Ovarcome. Fans are also encouraged to donate directly at this link.
 
About Texas State
The Bobcats suffered a 3-0 loss at South Alabama Friday night while being limited to just seven shot attempts. Five shots were taken by Mya Ulloa with four of them being on goal.
 
Continue to pace TXST with two goals scored are Trinity Clark, Kiara Gonzales, Madison Humphrey, Olivia Wright and Ulloa. Three assists have been credited to Kamaria Williams, Gonzales and Ulloa.
 
In goal, Beth Agee sports a 0.98 GAA with 38 saves and a .844 save percentage. She has made 125 saves in her career and is nine shy of tying Caitlynn Rinehart (2012-15) for sixth place in program history.
 
About Troy
Also coming off a loss on Friday is the Trojans. They fell 2-0 at home to Louisiana in which they were held to eight shots with only two being on goal. At home this year, Troy is 3-2-0 with wins over Alabama A&M, Jacksonville State and Nicholls.
 
Leading the Trojans offensively is Erin Bloomfield with five goals with four of them coming in the first two matches of the season. Also finding the back of the net twice has been Ella Owen. Bloomfield and Owen rank first and second, respectively, in shots with 11 and 10. Coming into the contest with a team leading two assists is Taytum Terrell.
 
Lindsey LaRoche has made seven appearances in goal with six starts. She comes in having allowed seven goals for a 1.05 GAA while making 29 saves for a .806 save percentage. Gaby Cossette has made three starts between the posts and sports a 1.60 GAA, seven saves and a .636 save percentage.
 
All-Time Series
Texas State leads the all-time series 6-5-0 but Troy has won the last two meetings. The most recent came in the first round of the Sun Belt Championship on Nov. 2, 2020 that ended 1-0 in overtime.
 
The Bobcats most recent victory was Oct. 31, 2018 in the quarterfinals of the Sun Belt Championship. Kaylee Davis knocked in the lone goal of the 1-0 match late in the 63rd minute.
 
When playing the Trojans on the road, TXST is 2-2-0 all-time. The last time the teams met in Troy (Oct. 14, 2018) was a 3-0 win for the Bobcats. Kayla Geren netted the match winner and Davis added two goals late in the second half.
