Head coach
Jake Spavital begins his third season with the Bobcats. Texas State finished the 2020 campaign with a 2-10 record after falling in six games by 10-or-less points. Two Bobcats earned All-American honors last year. Return specialist Jeremiah Haydel was named a First-Team All-American (

Cooper returns for the Bobcats this season, along with the quarterback duo of
Tyler Vitt and
Brady McBride.
In the offensive backfield, the three-headed monster of

Wide receiver
Marcell Barbee, who hauled in 10 receiving touchdowns in 2020, also returns as a key target in the Bobcats' passing attack.
Across the line of scrimmage,
Jarron Morris returns in the secondary with his team-high four interceptions from last season.
Nico Ezidore, who led the team with 3.5 sacks and 13.0 tackles for loss, will be joined by senior
Caeveon Patton on the defensive line.
