SAN MARCOS, Texas – The Texas State women's tennis team closes out its regular season when the Bobcats travel to UTSA on April 9 and host UT Arlington on April 10.
The Bobcats play the Roadrunners at the UTSA Tennis Center beginning at 1 p.m. Friday. Texas State returns to the Bobcat Tennis Complex for its final home match of the season against UTA in a Sun Belt Conference contest beginning at 11 a.m. Saturday.
Texas State enters the UTSA match with a 5-10 record after suffering four straight losses at UTA, No. 2 Texas, Louisiana, and ULM. The Bobcats look for their first Sun Belt win of the season against the Mavs.
LOOKING AT UTSA AND UTA
UTSA enters Friday's contest with a 7-9 record this season and closes its season against UTA on April 10. The Roadrunners are 0-2 this season at the UTSA Tennis Center after falling 4-3 against North Texas on March 28.
UTA enters Saturday's match with a 15-3 record after defeating North Texas 4-3 on April 7. The Mavs are 7-0 in Sun Belt Conference play this season after winning 4-1 decisions at ULM and Louisiana on April 3-4.
LOOKING AT THE BOBCATS
Seniors
Hana Kvapilova and
Rishona Israel-Lewis lead Texas State. Kvapilova has an 11-2 overall singles record, including a 10-1 mark in No. 1 singles matches this season. She and Israel-Lewis have combined for an 8-1 slate in No. 1 doubles matches.
SCOUTING THE ROADRUNNERS
The Roadrunners are led by Alexandra Weir's 10-4 record in singles matches. Weir has a 3-0 mark in No. 2 contests and a 5-3 slate on No. 3 courts. Alexandra Zlatarova has a 9-5 record in singles matches, including a 7-5 mark in No. 2 contests.
SCOUTING THE MAVS
Carla Pons leads UTA with a 19-3 overall record and a 14-1 mark in dual matches. She is 7-1 on No. 4 courts. Lucia Natal has a 10-0 mark, with five of her wins coming in No. 4 matches. Momoka Horiguchi has a 9-1 record in No. 1 contests this spring.
