SAN MARCOS, Texas – A trip South awaits the Texas State baseball team (12-17) as it travels to take on UTRGV (13-15) on Tuesday. The game will be played at the UTRGV Baseball Stadium with first pitch at 6 p.m.

Tuesday: Zeke Wood (2-2, 4.76 ERA) vs. Deryk Serbantez (1-1, 10.80 ERA)
 
LAST TIME OUT
The Bobcats won the series opener behind a complete game shutout from Zachary Leigh on Thursday over UT Arlington. However, The Mavericks won the final two games of the series. Jose Gonzalez paced the team at the plate as he went 7-for-17 last week with six extra-base hits of three doubles, two home runs and one triple.
 
ABOUT UTRGV
UTRGV dropped the first three games to California Baptist before winning the finale 4-3 on Saturday. The Vaqueros are 7-4 at home this season with the only other loss coming in their season opener on Feb. 21 to Baylor by the score of 12-7.
 
Freddy Rojas, Jr. paces the team with a .364 batting average, .482 OB%, .727 SLG% and six home runs. He also has six doubles, 11 runs scored and 17 RBI. Christian Sepulveda is the only other regular hitting over .300 with a .333 average. He paces the squad with 31 hits, 22 runs scored, 18 RBI and seven doubles.
 
Slated to make his first start of the season is Deryk Serbantez. The right-hander is 1-1 with a 10.80 ERA, six strikeouts and a team-high two saves in 6.2 innings over six appearances.
 
SERIES VS. THE VAQUEROS
Texas State leads the all-time series 45-24. UTRGV won the last meeting on Apr. 10, 2018 in 10 innings by a score of 2-1 that took place in San Marcos.
 
When playing in Edinburg, the Bobcats are 17-17 and dropped the last game 4-3 in 10 innings on Mar. 22, 2016. The last win for TXST on the road was Feb. 4, 2007 by a score of 12-5.
