Box Score SAN MARCOS, Texas – The Texas State tennis team won its third straight match when the Bobcats defeated Prairie View A&M, 7-0, on Friday morning at the Bobcat Tennis Complex.
The Bobcats jumped out to a 1-0 lead after winning all three doubles matches by a 6-1 score.
Andrea Fuchs and
Sofia Murcia-Rodriguez won their battle against Jimena Castellanos and Anette Lira on the No. 3 court.
Rishona Israel-Lewis and
Hana Kvapilova won their top-seeded doubles match against Victoria Castillo and Mahogani Green.
Chacadyah Israel-Lewis and
Nikita Pradeep won their match against Ruju Chauhan and Claudia Medina on the No. 2 court.
Texas State also won all six singles matches, headlined by Kvapilova's 6-0, 6-2 victory over Castillo on the No. 1 court.
Renata Gonzalez won her No. 6 match against Lira by a score of 6-0, 6-3.
Rishona Israel-Lewis also won a 6-0, 6-1 decision on the No. 2 court, and Fuchs defeated Green, 6-0, 6-3 in the No. 4 battle.
Both Pradeep and
Chacadyah Israel-Lewis won their matches in three sets. Pradeep came from behind to defeat Chauhan after dropping the first set, 6-1, and falling behind 4-3 in the second set. She came back to net three straight points to capture the second set. Pradeep had to overcome a 5-2 deficit in the super tiebreaker to win the set, 10-7, and clinch her victory.
Chacadyah Israel-Lewis and Medina battled back-and-forth throughout their match on the No. 5 court. Israel-Lewis won the first set, 6-2, but dropped the second set, 6-3, to force another super tiebreaker. She won the tiebreaker, 10-5, to win the set and clinch the victory.
The victory improves Texas State's overall record to 4-3. The Bobcats will travel to Jonesboro, Ark., for their first Sun Belt Conference match at Arkansas State on Sunday at 10 a.m.
