Texas State Women’s Tennis Travels to Tarleton State and UTA

SAN MARCOS, Texas –The Texas State women's tennis team will play a pair of matches on the road when the Bobcats travel to Tarleton State and UT Arlington on March 27-28.
 
Texas State (4-6, 0-3 in the Sun Belt) will play at Tarleton State (6-7, 1-1 in the WAC) at 11 a.m. on Saturday at the Potishman-Lard Tennis Court in Stephenville.  The Bobcats will look to win their first Sun Belt Conference match when they play at UTA at 11 a.m. on Sunday at the UTA Tennis Center in Arlington.
 
 
LOOKING AT SATURDAY'S MATCH
Texas State enters the Tarleton State match with a 4-3 record against non-conference teams this year. Saturday marks the first time the Bobcats will play a non-conference match on the road this season.
 
Tarleton State has a 3-0 record in home matches this season with wins over Dallas Baptist, South Dakota, and Chicago State. The Texans won three straight contests before falling 6-1 against Grand Canyon in a conference match played at St. George, Utah.
 
Texas State and Tarleton State met earlier this season when the Bobcats won a 4-3 decision on Feb. 27 at the Bobcat Tennis Complex. Texas State won the doubles point, with each team had three victories in singles in that match. Hana Kvapilova, Andrea Fuchs, and Renata Gonzalez won their singles contests for the Bobcats.
 
KVAPILOVA LEADS THE BOBCATS
Senior Hana Kvapilova leads Texas State with a 9-1 record in dual matches this spring after posting her eight-straight victory in No. 1 singles against Arkansas State.
 
 Andrea Fuchs won six consecutive No. 4 matches before missing the last two matches against ULM and Arkansas State.
 
Renata Gonzalez has a 4-3 record after winning two of her previous three No. 6 matches. She won last Sunday in straight sets over Yasmine Humbert of Arkansas State.
 
Rishona Israel-Lewis has a 3-4 record in No. 2 singles contests after splitting her last two matches against ULM and Arkansas State.  Kvapilova and Israel-Lewis have a 6-1 record in No. 1 doubles to lead Texas State.
 
A GLANCE AT UTA
The Mavericks enter Sunday's match with an 11-3 record this season after dropping a pair of 4-0 decisions at No. 27-ranked Rice in Houston on March 25 and against SMU on March 23. The Mavs are 10-1 in matches played at the UTA Tennis Center this season, with the one loss coming against SMU. UTA has a 3-0 record in Sun Belt Conference play with wins over Louisiana, ULM, and Arkansas State.
 
Momoka Horiguchi leads UTA with a 7-1 record in No. 1 singles matches this season. Polina Akimova has an 8-1 overall record, including a 7-1 mark in No. 3 matches. Lucia Natal is 6-0 this spring with a 5-0 mark on No. 4 courts.
 
WHAT'S NEXT
Texas State will play five more road contests before returning to the Bobcat Tennis Complex for its final home match of the season. The Bobcats play at No. 2 Texas on March 30, Prairie View on March 31, Louisiana on April 3, ULM on April 4, and UTSA on April 9. Texas State closes out the regular season with a home match against UTA on April 10.
