Soccer Hosts North Texas Sunday Afternoon

SAN MARCOS, Texas – The Texas State soccer team (4-9-1) will take the field for the first time this spring when it welcomes North Texas (1-0-0) to town. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. at the Bobcat Soccer Complex.
 
Live stats will also be available for the contest but there will not be a video stream.
 
Bobcat Soccer Complex Attendance Policy
The Bobcat Soccer Complex will operate at just 25% capacity (125 fans) this season sue to the COVID-19 pandemic. The full attendance policy can be found at this link: Soccer Attendance Policy
 
Last Fall
The Bobcats won their final two regular season matches before falling in the first round of the Sun Belt Conference Championship in overtime. Sunday will be the first of five matches this Spring with the final four all taking place on the road.
 
Beth Agee ranks second in the NCAA in both saves (71) and goalie minutes played (1,325:29). She has played every second in goal for Texas State this season.
 
None of the team's seven seniors decided to return to compete this Spring. Two of them, Sarah Everett and Renny Moore, graduated in December to complete their bachelor's degrees in three and a half years.
 
The top returning goal scorers from the Fall are Kiara Gonzales and Emma Jones with two goals apiece. Other players that found the back of the net are Alana Clark, Ally Kewish, Bailey Peschel, Karlee Torisk and Olivia Wright.
 
Scouting North Texas
North Texas opened its season with a 7-0 victory last Sunday at LSU-Alexandria. The Mean Green took 67 shots in the match with 29 being on goal. They played two exhibition matches that saw them beat Incarnate Word 1-0 and fall at Texas A&M 1-0.
 
Connor Barker scored twice last Sunday. Also finding the back of the net were Allie Byrd, Elle Marie DeFrain, Taylor Hunter, Berklee Peters and Taylor Tufts. Both Madi Starrett and Mackenzie Stricklin were credited with two assists.
 
Kelsey Brann played all 90 minutes in goal against LSUA. She faced only two shots but neither were on goal.
 
All-Time vs. Mean Green
Texas State trails the all-time series 0-8-0. The last meeting between the teams was Sept. 14, 2007 in Denton, Texas that saw the Bobcats fall 5-0. When hosting UNT, TXST is 0-3-0 with the last time being Aug. 27, 2006 that ended 2-1.
