Back on the Road: Bobcats Face Georgia Southern Friday

SAN MARCOS, Texas – The first of three consecutive matches on the road begins on Friday when the Texas State soccer team (6-5-1, 3-3-0 Sun Belt) faces Georgia Southern (8-4-2, 3-1-1 Sun Belt) at Erk Park. Kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m. CT.
 
The match will be streamed on ESPN+ and live stats will also be available.
 
Goals2Cure
This season's Goals2Cure initiative sees the Bobcats raise funds for each goal scored at home and shirts sold. The proceeds will be donated to Ovarcome. Fans are also encouraged to donate directly at this link.
 
About Texas State
The Bobcats snapped their three-match losing streak on Sunday with a 2-1 victory over Little Rock. Both goals came in the second half with Kiara Gonzales netting her team leading fourth goal of the season and Bailey Peschel finding the back of the net for the eventual match-winner with just under 10 minutes left on the clock.
 
Mya Ulloa enters with a team-high five assists, all of which have come during Sun Belt Conference play. Her assist total is the most by a TXST player since the 2017 season. The sophomore is also second on the team with two goals along with Trinity Clark, Madison Humphrey, Olivia Wright and Peschel.
 
The past two weekends have seen Beth Agee and Katelyn Chrisman split matches between the posts. This season Agee has a 1.23 GAA, 38 saves, a .792 save percentage and three shutouts over eight matches. Chrisman has played in four contests and sports a 1.18 GAA, 14 saves and a .737 save percentage.
 
About Georgia Southern
The Eagles are coming off a two-win weekend in which they defeated Troy (2-1) at home and ULM (2-0) on the road. GS began Sun Belt action with a 4-1 win at home over Appalachian State and followed with a 2-1 overtime loss at Arkansas State and a scoreless draw at Little Rock. This season, the Eagles are 4-0-0 at home with non-conference wins over Jacksonville (3-0) and Stetson (2-1).
 
Elis Nemtsov leads GS with eight goals, 33 shots and 19 shots on goal. Marcela Montoya has netted seven goals while adding three assists and taking 19 shots with 12 on frame. Finding the back of the net twice has been Olivia Durham, Megan Przybysz and Vala Kristin Theodorsdottir.
 
In goal, Michaela English has started all 14 matches and totaled 1,293:02 minutes. She has a 0.84 GAA with 12 goals allowed and made 68 saves for a .850 save percentage.
 
All-Time Series
Texas State leads the all-time series 4-1-1 and have won the last three meetings. Last time the teams met was Oct. 27, 2019 that ended with a 3-0 Bobcat victory behind two goals from Kaylee Davis in San Marcos on Senior Day. The last time the programs played in Statesboro was on Oct. 7, 2018. That contest also ended with a 3-0 score line behind a brace from Davis and another tally by Kayla Geren.
 
TXST is 1-1-1 all-time when playing the Eagles on the road. The lone loss came on Sept. 25, 2016 (1-0) and the teams played to a 1-1 draw on Oct. 24, 2014.
